5 Ways To Protect Your Garden From Drought

The landscape design creative process begins with a consultation. We come and meet you on site and discuss all the ideas that have been simmering away in the back of your mind. We talk about functionality, your needs and priorities, space for the kids to run around, screening that offers privacy from neighbours, an entertaining area that makes the most of a beautiful view or a front entry that gives a sense of arrival.

Before we meet, it is a good idea to sit down and think through what sort of garden will suit you best. What style do you prefer? Do you like a contemporary look or something more native? A minimalist contemporary style? A clipped formal garden? An organic vegetable garden? Think about who will be maintaining the garden and how much time you can devote to this. Perhaps your priority is shade for cooling things down in summer, or maybe the area around your pool needs softening with tropical plants that will turn it into your own private resort. The possibilities are endless.

We look at all the different elements of your site, including the aspect and location, wind direction, the position of the sun and light levels at different times of the year. We consider the topography of the site, the condition of the soil, what the views are from your home and how we can make the most of them or hide them if necessary.

This forms the basis of a site analysis, which we use to develop a concept plan for your garden. A brief outlining the scope of the project, including issues, priorities, likes and dislikes, is then created and shared with you for input. Once everyone is aligned, we move to the next stage, developing the initial concept plan.
